Training in a Variety of Environments

One of the ways you can tell if you are a well-rounded shooter is if you are able to operate in a different environments. It's one thing to be able to shoot at a range - whether your own personal range or a professionally-owned and operated one - where the distractions are either limited or controlled. This kind of training is vital because it teaches so many of the fundamentals of shooting and handling your weapon. Check out this video for a look a controlled environment and ways you might train (Note: I'm working with Challenge Targets and will likely review some of their items in the near future).

The other way you want to train is in a purposefully-controlled disruptive environment. By this I mean, training in places that make you not just a good shooter, but also a thinker (Travis Haley hits on this idea a lot in his instruction). When I say controlled YET disruptive environment I mean a location that is safe and legit BUT it's created in such a way that you don't know where every target might be, what your obstacles might be, or other factors. The latter part of this video will show you more about these kinds of environments.

So at the core of it all make sure you are training in all kinds of environments. Push yourself to beyond what you are good at so you can get to new levels of efficiency.
